As our buildings become more energy efficient and more densely occupied, it is important to monitor the air quality in offices spaces regularly. Hawk Environmental Services has a cost-effective way to collect data, perform inspections, and generate detailed reports to deal employee complaints, perform preventative maintenance, and for routine purposes. Our full reports are usually 25-100 pages long, but please review the abbreviated sample report below to see what the final product may look like. [/teaser]

Background information:
The clients have requested a general indoor air quality testing for 6 locations in the building
- General Climate Conditions
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Carbon dioxide
- General toxics
- total VOC’s (in ppm via 10.6 eV PID)
- Carbon monoxide
- LEL (lower explosive limits i.e. natural gas)
- Hydrogen sulfide
- Oxygen
- Mold spore levels
Company Experience
Hawk Environmental Services, Inc. is a locally owned and operated small business with that deals solely with testing, inspection, and consultation in regards to indoor air quality, energy efficiency, employee health and safety, hazardous materials testing, and other environmental inspections. Hawk Environmental Services, Inc. offers neutral and unbiased information and reporting without the conflicts of interest that may be present when a company also offers remediation and installation services.
The company is well qualified and experienced in the type of inspection and testing proposed below. The following is a short list of similar organizations that have hired Hawk Environmental Services in 2014 to perform a scope of testing identical or similar to testing proposed in this document. Reference and contact information for these clients can be made available on request:
Boeing (Auburn, WA)
Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind
Pacific Medical Centers
Summary of findings:
Temperature:
The temperature in the tested space is fairly consistent throughout the building, and should not have a negative impact on indoor air quality.
Humidity:
The humidity levels at the time of inspection were well-within the recommended levels.
Carbon Dioxide:
The carbon dioxide levels in most tested areas were within the recommended limits.
- Sample area VC-04 (2nd floor conference room B) showed elevated levels of carbon dioxide as listed in the appendix between 12:09 and 12:19 on December 12th. This is likely due to the conference room being occupied by a large number of individuals and/or an occupant breathing directly into the probe. Aside from this anomaly the general carbon dioxide trends in this area appear normal.
- A graph of this data can be found below in the summary of sample data section
- Sampled area VC-06 showed levels of carbon dioxide that were above the recommended limits stated in the appendix of this report. A clear trend between occupied times and unoccupied times in the tested area was noted, and this suggests that some benefit may be made by increasing the percentage of fresh-air supplied to this location. The difference if carbon dioxide levels in this area as compared to the other testing locations, is likely directly related to the increase occupant density in the area.
- A graph of this data can be found below in the summary of sample data section
Total VOC’s (volatile organic compounds):
The tVOC levels in the tested areas were within recommended limits. The minor fluctuations noted (0.1-0.5 ppm) are likely due to typical product usage of perfumes, hand sanitizers, cleaners, and other office and consumer products.
Carbon Monoxide:
No carbon monoxide was detected at the time of inspection.
Mold spores:
No elevated mold spore levels were noted in the tested areas.
