PCR Testing (Surface, Molecular) for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)

CORONAVIRUS Surface, Molecular Testing Kit (SARS-CoV-2)

In response to the growing health and safety crisis, Hawk Environmental Services is proud to introduce surface molecular testing for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) utilizing a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) method. Positive results indicate viral genetic material of the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) on material tested.

This test kit is used to report on coronavirus as detect or non-detect per sample provided.

All samples are analyzed on Roche Pharmaceuticals equipment approved by the FDA under the Emergency Use Authorization and are processed in a CLIA certified facility.

PCR Molecular Testing for Coronavirus

  • We may follow up with you via phone, email, or text messaging in connection with your request.

While medical and support services have responded to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19 infections, we have seen many schools, restaurants, and other businesses close their doors. Most businesses have improved their cleaning and hygiene policies overall. However, it can be difficult to verify cleanliness and produce accurate logs that will help prevent employees or customers from becoming infected, and limit liability.

Hawk Environmental Services can ship out test kits with prepaid return labels to allow businesses to test, verify, and document that cleaning practices are sufficient to remove viral genetic material of SARS-CoV-2 (this is a direct test for the Coronavirus).

This test kit is used to assess the presence of viral genetic material on hard surface areas and the effectiveness of cleaning procedures. This test detects the genetic signature (RNA) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in swab samples from contaminated environmental surfaces with clinical instrumentation using RT-PCR for specific detection of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). RT-PCR, a molecular diagnostic test, detects and quantifies the viral RNA using real time (RT) reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Positive results indicate the presence of the viral genetic material SARS- CoV-2 nucleic material but does not rule out the presence of other viral and bacterial contamination.

How It Works

Collect Your Samples

Use the provided swabs with viral transport media from your test kit to collect your samples. All samples should be packaged and labelled according to the sampling instructions included for your reference.

Submit Samples

Contact Hawk Environmental to confirm the quantity of samples to be submitted. Before sending in the samples, we will provide you with a chain-of-custody form via email.

Using the provided return label and FedEx envelope, send your packaged samples and completed chain-of-custody form for analysis**. Samples should ideally be submitted within 24 – 48 hours of collection.

**CLIA, AIHA, NVLAP, and CDC Elite accredited

Receive Your Detailed Report

The samples will be analyzed by PCR to determine if  genetic material  from  COVID-19 virus is  present. Within the reporting time chosen by you (24 hours to 4 business days), Hawk Environmental Services will provide you with a detailed formal report on the results via email.

Hawk Environmental Services will keep records of your results for your convenience, and encourages you to do the same.

Continuous Testing

While the first round of testing may be sufficient for some, many organizations are open to the public and may be subject to re-contamination.  For these municipal buildings, schools, pharmacies, stores, and medical facilities you may wish to perform testing on a weekly or even daily basis to ensure that your team is being as effective as possible with their sanitation efforts.
